Hi! My name is Danyelle and I am excited to share with you some mindfulness techniques that have truly improved my way of living! So for you to really get the big picture, I am going to have to go back a few years and tell you my story!

A few years ago….

I was starting my 9th year of teaching kindergarten, and was super excited! The year before I had started a new way of running my class and it went amazingly!! So starting out my 9th year I really felt confident and excited because, of course I knew the ends and outs now right??? Wrong! It ended up being a very tough year! It is very hard to be a teacher and not be passionate about it…. my heart and soul was broken. My new method was definitely not working and either was anything else.

The harder you work for something, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it.

I was a mess mentally and physically!

Being Mindful Is Not Easy!

Well I need to let you guys know I am ADHD with anxiety and OCD…Yes the big three! I wanted you guys to know this because during that whole year I was a mess. My passion was completely gone and my anxiety was through the roof. I had lost twenty pounds; I looked and felt terrible! I was waking up at 4 in the morning every day dry heaving. So thinking in my head “over the summer I’ll start feeling better”. Wrong Again! I could not get my wait up which caused a major body image issue. I was really in a bad place…….This is where Mindfulness comes in to my life!

Mindfulness = Amazing!

So how I discovered this new way of life “Mindfulness” was from school. At the end of that terrible year we had to set up a calming corner to use for the next year. Well now I had to do some research because I have never heard of a calming corner and had no clue how to incorporate it into my classroom!

Well after doing my research and now teach my students about being mindful; I have become well educated in the topic! I learned it is very beneficial to you mentally and physically! This topic literally focuses on every aspect of a person! If you are not interested in becoming mentally strong and comfortable in your own skin then you have given up on yourself. Please tell yourself, “your worth matters and you have something to contribute to this world!” IT’S THE TRUTH!

What is Mindfulness??

In my words mindfulness is being aware of your thoughts and feelings in your everyday life and how you respond to those situation.

How Mindfulness Strategies Help You!

  • Be more aware of yourself
  • Better understanding of thoughts and feelings.
  • Has strategies to help a person respond to certain situations in a healthy way.
  • Strengthens attention span (focus) and helps with impulsive behaviors
  • Reduces anger/anxiety
  • Builds confidence
  • Reflect (better you as a person) my words 🙂
  • Strengthens your brain (Research has shown that our brains are like a muscle)!
  • Inspires you (It did me!)
  • Yoga (Mindfulness and Yoga go hand in hand with each other. If you decided to follow me; you will get a better understanding why!) 🙂

Ways To Practice Mindfullness

  • Meditation- Meditation is NOT easy! Be patient because it takes time and practice. (There are many ways to practice!)
  • Journal Writing- It can be one sentence a day about how you feel at that moment. You could draw instead of writing it. I have heard bible journaling is beneficial.
  • Reflection- At the end of every day reflect. Reflect on how you felt throughout the day and think about why you had that feeling. (Reflection is powerful!)
